Using the simple premise of heARTmatters … this program creates the atmosphere and opportunity for you to experiment and explore … recapture and reclaim your creative spirit and the "playful" mind-set that removes mental barriers and leads to inspiration.

The Creative Success and Self-Expression program is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to discover, strengthen and support their natural creative abilities.
The objectives of this program are to help each participant:
• Discover their unique creative voice
• Appreciate creativity/the arts as a valuable process and tool for
self-expression and understanding.
• Increase creative risk.
• Experience creative expression as fun.

This program was funded by a 2003-2004 Arts Education Grant from Broward County (FL) Cultural Affairs. It was presented to the after-school population (ages 9 -13) at the South Broward Family YMCA from October 2003 through June 2004.
In 2004-2005, the program will be presented in collaboration with Oakland Park (FL) Parks & Recreation.

heARTmatters is a classroom adaptation of the Creative Success and Self-Expression program. Focus is placed on the importance of curiosity, creative courage, letting go of logic, rights and wrongs, the power of imagination and learning to let what is inside - out.
Increased pride, self-esteem and empowerment are natural outgrowths of this process.

Susan is available for personal appearances at schools, churches, temples, libraries, bookstores and galleries for book-signings. Upon request, she can present an interactive program for children using her materials.
