Biography

Susan Schanerman is a multi-talented writer, artist and educator. For more than 20 years, she has enjoyed success as a lecturer, trainer and seminar leader helping people open their minds to new possibilities.

Having overcome the crippling impact of polio at the age of 7 and the life-long struggle of living with physical challenges, Susan brings a unique and heartfelt sensitivity and wisdom to her work. Using her memorable stories, profound insights and humorous style of delivery, Susan captivates and uplifts her audiences, motivating them to manifest their personal, professional and creative talents.

All this did not come easy. For years, Susan struggled with the question of her purpose and her life’s mission.

“I had long asked myself why I ended up with the life I’d had … with so much struggle, pain, sadness and isolation. The only thing that made sense to me was realizing that I could use my life as an example to inspire others. So here’s what I know…

We can each be a star in our own lives… if we believe we can… We all have the capacity to move past our obstacles to achieve the dreams of our hearts … It is our Divine Right and Responsibility to be in the starring role…and to shine… however… wherever… and whenever we can!”

Susan has been published in local and national publications for more than 20 years. Her first children’s book God is Color will be available late summer 2004. Her artwork is frequently displayed at bookstores and galleries. Her multi-talented endeavors also include producing musical events, commercials, infomercials and a play.

Susan has been an active member of the South Florida community for more than 10 years. She is currently president of Business & Professional Women, Quad City Chapter and was past-president of the Cypress Creek Chapter. She has served on the Executive Council of Women for Excellence and was Executive Director of Entrepreneurial Tuesday. She presently holds active memberships in ArtServe and Women in Communications.

Susan is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.A. in psychology and an M. Ed. in counseling/psychology from William Paterson University. She has founded and managed two successful businesses.

Born and raised in Northern New Jersey, she has lived in Florida since 1978. Lake Emerald in Oakland Park has been her home for almost 10 years. She is the proud mother of one grown son, Jason, who is happily married to Jodi.
